The partials are in the mouth most of the time and can stain and form calculus and tartar just as teeth do if not brushed and cleaned properly. The pitting and brown discoloration that you're referring to sounds to me like the partial has been placed in a solution that it shouldn't have been soaked in. The acrylic that the teeth are made of don't usually pit, they will show wear on the occlusal surface though. It may be time to see the dentist and have them cleaned or have a new one made. He will be able to tell you exactly what is wrong with the partial. Good luck and hope I've been of some help.
Additional information: That would have been my next question, new medications. Are you using anything new as far as cleanser for the partial? How is the water in your new apartment, smell of strong chlorine? Are you in an assisted living environment, where someone else may have cleaned your partial incorrectly for you? If there hasn't been any of these changes that I've mentioned so far, the only other thing would be medications, vitamins or supplements you may take that may have possibly changed your body chemistry. This is probably something that your dentist will need to "see" to determine the cause. I'm sorry I can't give you a definite answer, so you may have to take the partial in to find out what is causing this. I'll check back tomorrow to see if anything I've mentioned rings a bell with you, so be sure to let me know as I am puzzled with this.

Could be that the denture is getting old or needs to be cleaned. Tarter can build up on the partial & is near impossible for you to clean off. When you visit your dentist, they can clean it for you.
Other Replys:the main reason for the browning would be from coffee and tea=on the metal could be that you don't use a denture cleaner often enough or leave your dentures out in the open air=even just water to soak in helps them to not get this way
