Replacing teeth?

All my life Ive had bad teeth, and at around 7 i had 14 baby teeth removed as they were in a bad state. As a child I didnt gorge on sweets and my favorite drink was milk or ribena (i think) so it wasnt because I didnt look after them. Since then tho I've not taken care of them I'll admit and they could use some work.

I have 2 problems.

My main beef with them is the front few. They are all out of line, there are white marks on a few that look extreamly odd, and the gums are extreamly receeded.

2nd when i try to align my teeth so my mouth closes properly all the back ones are out of line too, top against bottom. This leaves me with my jaw usually open (mouth closed except in sleep) and with my tongue usually between the two sets

The Question Im asking is how much would it cost to correct these 'faults' and what exactly are my options. I'd ask my dentist but he's not called the butcher for nothing :( I had a deep root canal once, but have been back 3 times with problems :(:(

It sounds like you have several problems that need to be taken care of, if at all possible. There are several factors that need to be looked at. A dentist would need to work up a treatment plan first by taking a full mouth set of x rays, a pano, impressions for models to be made and then a consultation. All of this alone is expensive and can drain an insurance allowance for the year. So you would need to be able to financially afford to do the treatment, something you need to consider is the expense of this work can reach well beyond the thousands. I haven't even looked at your teeth and can already feel from what you've said that you need a lot of work. Most Dentist will agree, and offer to do a little at a time, as you can afford it. Which is all good and great, if you don't mind waiting 10 to 20 years to finish the work. Which will never happen, I've seen it too many times. Something will decay, or break and need a crown, and a bridge was suppose to go there, so what do we do. There are too many things that need to be done at one time, is what I'm trying to say, and what I think you have said. If I'm reading this right. I don't know your age, if you've considered dentures or even if you would want to go that route. It's an option in most peoples case. It is the less expensive route to take. If your young, I don't think it's an option though. My suggestion would be to take out a loan if you have to, or see about financing through your dentist, but to have the work completed all at once. Not everything in one day, but all the work that the treatment plan has to accomplish the teeth and smile that you wish to attain. I'm not sure about your dentist or if he's just doing what you ask or just getting you out of pain when he see's you. So I don't know his reputation in dentistry and can't say if he's treated you fairly or not. But if your not happy with him and he's not offered or tried to help you attain the smile you desire, then maybe you need to look elsewhere. No one can tell you how much, or how long any work that needs to be performed in you case will cost or take. You may want to check other Dental offices and see if anyone can advise you.
