Aching Gums/Clicking Teeth?
I鈥檓 27 and my gums started to recede about a year ago. My doctor told me that my teeth and gums are otherwise healthy and that the gum recession was caused by over-brushing my teeth. I鈥檝e been taking good care of my teeth, brushing gently with Colgate Time Control, using a soft toothbrush and I floss regularly and use Sensodyne mouthwash.
However, over these past few days my upper gums have been aching and my teeth seem to click a little when putting pressure against them.
Can anyone tell me what is causing this and what I can about this?

Aching Gums/Clicking Teeth?
You might be grinding or clenching your teeth while you sleep. I also have receding gums and several dentists have said I brush too hard but I know that is not the case. Finally one dentist told me it was from grinding my teeth and I think that is correct. This could also cause the aching and clicking. Teeth grinding tends to worsen when you are under stress but unless you feel the ache you won't realize you are doing it. If you think you could be grinding your teeth, I recommend getting fitted for a night guard so that you don't put too much pressure on your teeth and gums at night, and this should reduce the long term damage. Long term, meditation, breathing and relaxation techniques, and reducing stress should reduce if not eliminate the grinding but these are all easier said than done.

no idea. my teeth have holes all over the show and i look after them. life is unfair.
Other Replys:Ring your dentist. It's possible that one of your fillings have loosened a bit, and that's the clicking sensation that you describe.
