Teeth straightening options!?

Hello everyone,

I was wondering what other ways are their to straighten your teeth besides braces. I'm 21 years old & work in a medical building & really don't want the metal mouth look. I would prefer if no one could really tell I was wearing braces. My dentist told me that I should opt for a palate expander since my top jaw is smaller than my bottom one then get braces but I really don't want to do that. The palate expander sounds painful with day surgery & again I don't want noticable braces.

I've done some research on invisaline and was considering that but heard its a pain to take out everytime you want to eat or drink something. I would prefer the least amount of pain & time needing them.

My bottom teeth are only a little bit crowded & my top teeth are pretty much fine other than a gap in the front. I really only want the top done.

What are my options?

Invisalign is the best way to go. I know 4 people who are or is still using invisalign, they said that it is not painful at all to remove to eat or drink except maybe for the first two weeks but that was them just getting used to it, it is something foreign in your mouth. It is more costly almost around 5,000 dollars where i am. In KY. But if you dont want people to notice that you are working on your teeth this is the way to go. My friend had hers in for 2 months before i noticed. She said she didnt want to tell me, just to see if i noticed. They straightened her teeth in as little as 9 months, and she said it was worth every penny. The discomfort only last for a short time and after that it is more of a normal routine than a burden. Just go get a second opinion. If your bite is bad, I understand why your ortho would want to correct your jaw. Have you considered the ceramic braces? They are clear and very hard to see. A palate expander does not require surgery, so I don't know what he was talking about there. And invisalign is quite a bit more expensive and won't fix a bad malocclusion.

Other Replys:you could get a palate expander and then mabey invisaline since the blend in with your teeth and you can carley see them. my friend has them and i didnt notice until i got closer. good luck!
