Orthognathic LowerJaw Surgery due to Underbite concerning teeth?
I need orthognathic surgery to push my lower jaw back (underbite). My top teeth are straight but my bottom teeth are a little crooked.
Is it always necessary to have braces put on to straighten out the bottom teeth before the surgery or can a surgeon perform the surgery, then I have braces put on after the surgery to correct my bottom teeth?
if I have braces put on before the surgery it could take up to 2 years before I can have the surgery. I just want to get the surgery over with.
I go to the oral surgeon May 1st 2007, I just want to know before hand if it is even an option to request of him.
Has anyone ever had to deal with this option before?

Yes very painful procedure.Braces normally go onafter surgery.They have to correct the bite first.Make sure you ask lots of questions.Good luck,.
